About Cygnet

Cygnet was discovered by Bruny D'Entrecasteaux and originally named Port de Cygnes Noir (Black Swan Port) but the name was later Anglicised to Cygnet.

Cygnet is an ideal base for touring southern Tasmania. With historic buildings, orchards, vineyards, cafes and art galleries aplenty, you can spend days exploring, bush walking, fishing or just relaxing without travelling more than a few kilometres from your accommodation.

For day trips further afield, head out to Bruny Island, the Tahune Forest Airwalk, Hastings Caves, Salamanca Market and many other tourist destinations in the Huon Valley.

Cygnet has some of the best dine in or take away eating places ... The Red Velvet Lounge, Lotus Eater, School House Shop, Green Inn, Commercial Hotel and Cafe, Cygnet Central Hotel, Community Hotel. Cygnet also has two IGA supermarkets, open from 8.30 am to 8 pm, plus a pharmacy, library, laundromat, bank, Living History Museum, art galleries, hardware store, drapery, post office, three real estate agencies and other shops.

The Cygnet Folk Festival in January each year is a popular 3 day event featuring world-class artists. 'A Taste of Huon' in Mid-March is a food and wine extravaganza promising a party for your tastebuds. So be tempted by all the wonderful things on offer in and around Cygnet - you won't be disappointed.
