About Kempton

The village of Kempton lies just off the busy Midlands Highway. It has many heritage buildings, many of which were connected to servicing the stage coaches that came through here (but the pub across the road is much later and serves good food).

Kempton is a great spot to stop and explore Tasmania's Midlands. Chauncy Vale, home of children's author Nan Chauncy, offers the opportunity to see her house just as she left it and there are great bushwalks to the caves she features in her books.

Bothwell is another town not to be missed. It has the oldest golf course in the southern hemisphere, where you can play, and the Australian Golf Museum. You can also visit the Nant whisky distillery.

A little further afield are Oatlands, Richmond and the Derwent Valley. So leave your luggage with us and spend a few days relaxing in this off-the-beaten-track part of Tasmania.
