About Orford

Orford (45 minutes from Hobart Airport) is a quiet village of 500 people, which has developed along a collection of lovely beaches.

Orford is the gateway to the east coast of Tasmania when coming from Hobart. Ask your hosts about accessing local seafood, enjoy the golf course, fishing, boating, close by, safe swimming beaches, local vineyards and bushwalk along the many walking tracks. There’s a hotel, restaurants, supermarket, post office and café – all within easy walking distance.

Visit the beautiful Maria Island National Park. Pack a picnic and enjoy a day exploring historic Darlington, climb Mt Bishop & Clark or Mt Maria. It’s the perfect destination if you enjoy walking within pristine nature.

Make Orford your base whilst exploring the sunny east coast and other Tasmanian attractions. Go north and visit Swansea, Coles Bay, Bicheno, Freycinet National Park and a host of wineries along the way. To the South, visit Port Arthur via the Wielangta Forest, and historic Richmond is only 50 mins away.
