About Swansea
Historic Swansea boasts beautiful views across the bay to Freycinet. Swansea is an ideal base from which to explore Tasmania's East Coast, including Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay and Wineglass Bay (right), the penguin colony at Bicheno, take part in land, sea and air activities, or just appreciate the stunning scenery of the coastline. Day trips to St Helens, the Midlands and Port Arthur are quite possible for visitors who would prefer to have a home base and visit places of interest during the day, rather than pack up and move on every morning.
Swansea has all amenities including shops, restaurants, RSL club, sports, museum and the magnificent walking track around Waterloo Point. There are five wineries on the way around to the Freycinet National Park and along the way you could always pick up some oysters from the Marine Farm. The Bark Mill Museum and the Community Museum are worth a few hours browsing, soaking up the history of yesteryear. Kate's Berry farm is just to the south of Swansea - and the only description is 'yummy'.
